Select information from Amanda Stoltzfus' memoriam: "Her entire career was spent in endeavoring to improve rural life and rural schools. Beginning near Knoxville, Tennessee, where she organized and conducted a rural school, which was nationally known, she continued her service in this field at Tuleta in Bee County, Texas, where the Tuleta Rural Consolidated School attracted interest throughout Texas. Under her principalship it became not only a center of educational activity adapted to rural life, but an effective means of community uplift. From this work she was called to The University of Texas, to become Lecturer in Rural Education, which position she held for many years." Amanda Stoltzfus passed away on October 11, 1930.
