St. Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day card with tan fringe and tasseled cords. A border of white daisies surrounds a smaller zig-zag border. Inside the border is the text "St. Valentine's Day," a Forget Me Not flower, foliage and a butterfly. The inside of the card (also shown), on the left, features a girl in a pink dress holding a stalk with seeds in her left arm. She is seated on a daisy. White daisy petals surround her head. In the background are blades of grass and more daisies. On the right are clouds and daisies. A verse is printed over the clouds. See the Public Note below for the text. Chromolithograph. |

The verse reads "Know you the Daisy Queen, Marguerite, with golden hair? In all the world, Queen, Was never a Queen so fair. She reigns in Summer land, She sits on a golden throne, With a sceptre in her hand, And a sweetness all her own. At heart the queen is gay, And glad as a little child, She loves to dance and play, And sport with breezes mild. Marguerite, so fair and fine, With a wave of her tiny hand, Decrees a Valentine, To every child in the land. E.S.F." For a similar Valentine without fringe, see Image ID: 81209. |
