Edmond Burdick graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1890 with a degree in law. He had a career as a lawyer for the emerging railroad companies in the Western United States. He worked for both the Santa Fe Railway and the Mexican Central Railway. It is believed that during his work for the railroad the town of Edmond, Oklahoma was named for him. He died in 1909, in Mexico, from Typhoid fever. (information taken from the UW- Alumni Magazine, vol. 10, no. 7 and the Edmond, OK Historical Society website) |
