Ole J. Urness
Head and shoulders oval portrait of Ole J. Urness [as written on portrait; also written as Ole Johnson Urnes on Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20], a corporal in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 45: He resided in Blue Mound, Iowa. On January 5, 1864, he enlisted in Madison, Wisconsin and on January 28, 1864, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 22. He joined Company B at Strawberry Plaines, Tennessee on March 31, 1864. He was then transferred to Company H, 15th Wisconsin on December 1, 1864, at Lookout Creek, Tennessee. While with Company H, he was promoted to sergeant and was transferred again to Company I, 13th Wisconsin on June 10, 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee. He was mustered out of service by order of the War Department on June 30, 1865. |
