The photograph caption reads: "United States Marines are shown on the cover of this report using an International crawler tractor and bulldozer as a fighting weapon. The cover photograph was taken on Namur, Kwajalein atoll, when the Marines invaded the Marshall Islands. Japanese pillboxes were buried so well that only tractors and bulldozers could be used to rout the enemy from their dug-in positions. The photo shows a Marine patrol and tractor approaching a pillbox. It is an official United States Marine Corps photograph." |
