A housing development built to serve the African-American community in McComb, canvassed by civil rights volunteers.<p>"Government built development in McComb. Unfortunately, we received very little response from these people. They were, I believe, afraid of losing their homes in the development. Oddly enough, the federal government in building this area failed to provide our recreation facilities. Since there is no such thing as open occupancy in Hattiesburg, McComb, or Summit, all kinds of homes, rich, poor, government constructed, are to be found within the Negro ghetto."
