Additional Information: | The two-story porch has been replaced since last surveyed in 1992 (2003). Built in 1905 by John E. Uselding and his wife Cecilia (Meyer) Uselding. Uselding was a prominent citizen in Port Washington. He was born in Fredonia, Wisconsin on April 10, 1873, and later attended the Normal School in Oshkosh. He was admittedto the Wisconsin Bar in 1899. H was appointed Port Washington city Attorney in 1901 and District Attorney two years later. In 1906, Uselding was elected as a judge for Ozaukee County, a position he held until his retirement. He was also one of the founders of the Milwaukee Northern Railway, the electric interurban line that connected Milwaukee to various comunities north of the city. He served as the president of Port Washington's First National Bank from its founding in 1909 until his death in 1936. The current siding was likely added in the circa 1940s. In the last decade the original porch was removed an replaced with the existing porch. |
