Additional Information: | SEE WALKER'S POINT FILE. William Equitz was the mason. The building was altered in 1904. A three story west addition was constructed and Chas. L. Lesser was the architect. 1973: "This building was constructed for Charles F. Stumpf and Henry J. Langhoff, clothiers, in 1899. It was formally dedicated on January 3, 1900. It served Stumpf and Langhoff for many years as both a store and offices, and it retains its original use today in an important business district in Milwaukee's south side--a prominent commercial area for 100 years. Alterations and Additions (as of 1973): Permit No. 865, July 5, 1904, permit to build an addition of brick and wood to the west end of the store; architect Charles L. Lesser; E. Steigerwald, mason and C.B. Danielson, caroenter; for owners Stumpf and Langhoff at a cost of $20,000. Permit No. 417, March 4, 1913, permit to alter the interior of the building for owners Stumpf and Langhoff; architect Herbst and Hupschmidt; cost $4,000. Permits on file for numerous interior alterations from 1921-1937. Builder: William Equitz, mason." |
