Additional Information: | This two and one-half story frame house combines late Italianate massing and detail with decorative elements borrowed from a range of picturesque styles. Although the hip roof has a moderate pitch, the tall proportions of the house are accentuated by the steeply pitched cross gables. Sharply angular in profile, the house features a two story rectangular bay window on the south facade, with crisply molded cornices and mullions. The regularly spaced one-over-one sash windows are framed with ornamental mill work and surmounted by projecting cornices. The front and side porches are supported by decorative posts and ornamental friezes. Vergeboards and kingposts and Stick style elements to the house. The house was built in 1884 by Edwin E. Kinsley, at that time a carriage maker. He was later the proprietor of the Beloit Carriage Works, which in 1891 was located at 416 State Street. |
