Campers will spend four full days as part of our Old World Wisconsin Guest Experience Team.  Dressed in historic clothes they will learn techniques and facilitation skills while being responsible for helping our guests get hand-on with history.  From school teacher, blacksmith, to baker, our Campers learn side by side with staff to see what it takes to bring history to life.

Campers will be provided with historic clothing, from hats to shoes.  They will be responsible for keeping a daily journal and completing workbook activities to guide their inquiry throughout the camp. 

Open to youth entering 8th grade in Fall 2018 through 12th grade.

Sample Schedule:

Day 1: Training bootcamp - play improv games, learn storytelling techniques, meet the team and tour the site, historic costume fittings

Day 2:  Dress in period clothes, shadow a Professional Experience Facilitator in 2 locations, team defrief on experience, review source materials

Day 3: Co-facilitate with staff in assigned location, full site exploration with camp team, team debrief

Day 4: A full day of facilitation, afternoon ice cream social with family and full team

Location Information

Old World Wisconsin documents the settlement of 19th- and early 20th-century Wisconsin. It comprises an 1870s crossroads village and 10 ethnic farmsteads located on 576 acres of wooded hills in the Southern Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest.
