Join the Wisconsin Historical Society's own Michael Edmonds for the launch of Taking Flight: A History of Birds and People in the Heart of America, a dynamic account of ornithological history in America's heartland. A birder himself, Edmonds has combed through archaelogical reports, missionaries' journals, the memoirs of American Indian elders, early scientific treatises, and more to reveal how our Midwestern ancestors thought about the same birds we see today. Whether you're a birder or someone who simply enjoys marveling at the bird you see on your daily walk, you'll look at birds differently after hearing what Michael Edmonds has to say. The event will take place at The Urban Ecology Center, books will be sold by Boswell Book Company, and a book signing will follow.
