'Bottoms Up' Book Event in Shorewood
"Bottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin's Historic Bars and Breweries" celebrates Wisconsin's taverns and the breweries that fueled them. Beginning with inns and saloons, the book explores the rise of taverns and breweries, the effects of temperance and Prohibition, and attitudes about gender, ethnicity and morality. The book features 70 taverns and breweries from around the state.
Co-author Jim Draeger will be in Shorewood to talk about 'Bottoms Up.'
A book signing will follow. The talk will be held in the Village Center meeting rooms, which are located in the lower level of the library. Draeger's appearance is sponsored by the Shorewood Senior Resource Center.
Draeger is an architectural historian and deputy state historic preservation officer at the Wisconsin Historical Society with more than 25 years of historic preservation experience. From roadside architecture to Northwoods resorts, Draeger celebrates the importance of ordinary buildings to our daily lives through his research, writing and lectures.
