Term: American Bowling Congress

Definition: Sports organization headquartered in Milwaukee. It became the center of controversy in 1946, when it was denied official sanction to participate in a bowling tournament sponsored by the Milwaukee County Industrial Union Council because it would not prohibit participation by African-American bowlers.
