The visual materials collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society include more than 13,000 pictures online at Wisconsin Historical Images. Among those are these photos, postcards and other imagery of the circus in Wisconsin. Thanks to the influence of the Ringling brothers of Baraboo, Wisconsin, the state became known for circuses. Wisconsin was, at one time, home to 26 different circus companies and over 100 traveling shows wintered in the state.
