A Polish couple braves the loneliness to settle Pike Lake

Pike Lake lonely 44 years ago; two lads toddle away


Polonia, in Portage County, was first settled in the 1850s and is the second oldest Polish community in the United States. This article discusses the move of Mr. and Mrs. Milanowski from Polonia, where they first settled in 1864, to Pike Lake in Marathon County. The Milwanowskis were one of the first families to settle there.
