Wisconsin Centennial Exposition, 1948: ephemera


This collection contains 93 pages of booklets, programs, brochures, notecards, and other short-lived publications issued for the Wisconsin Centennial Exposition in 1948, held on the state fair grounds. The most substantial item is a 50-page booklet called "Our Wisconsin Heritage: the Development of a State" designed for elementary and secondary teachers. A 30-page pamphlet issued for statehood day includes lists of milestones in Wisconsin history and relevant statistics. Other ephemera includes a poster asking children to nominate the state tree, a mimeographed list of famous Wisconsin people, and sheet music to the song "Wisconsin" by Floyd S. Knight and Richard Koebner. This material was selected from the papers of Merle C. Palmer, secretary of the 1948 Wisconsin State Centennial Committee.
