ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Zorn lived in Dayton in the Wrights' neighborhood during the time they were perfecting their airplane. Although the Wrights were somewhat secretive about their work, it is likely Zorn knew about it. Perhaps he witnessed their trials at Huffman Prairie. Like them, he advanced from a glider to a biplane. With ailerons and wheels, but no steering wheel, Zorn's plane was a cross between a Curtiss and a Wright Flyer. Also unique about Zorn's plane is the fact that the engine connected directly to the propellers. Zorn's accomplishments would be unknown except that later when he moved to Waukesha, he became acquainted with aviation historian Warren O'Brien who copied Zorn's original photograph. O'Brien reported Zorn spoke little about his experiences in Dayton.
