ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The house, constructed in 1859 in Section 5, was possibly a stage coach stop in its early days and the two-story addition was used for town meetings chaired by Allen Adsit during his fifteen year tenure as chairman. Stephen and Betsey Adsit left New York State and joined their sons Charles and Martin on land acquired in 1845 in the Town of Deerfield. Their third-born son, Allen, never married, but continued to work the family farm long after his parents died and his brothers moved away to Michigan and Minnesota.
