Champion Harvesting Machines Advertisement | Poster | Wisconsin Historical Society
Advertising poster for Champion brand agricultural machines, manufactured by Warder, Bushnell and Glessner Company. The main illustration depicts a salesman wearing a hat and suit talking to a farmer. He is standing at the entrance to a cemetery for agricultural machinery. A skeleton riding on a piece of agricultural machinery is driving a team of horses through the cemetery gate that reads: "Bone Yard." The salesman is holding a sign on a pole that reads: "Just as Good as the Champion." A rolled-up document in his pocket says: "Documents to Fool the Farmer." Text below the farmer gives his response to the salesman's pitch. On the right a woman wearing a white dress and a crown that says "Agriculture" is holding a horn of plenty across her arm and holding up a banner that extols the benefits of the Champion brand. On the left are illustrations in the form of postcards that feature farmers using a horse-drawn grain binder and mower in the field. Along the bottom is text that reads: "The survival of the fittest." A number of animal illustrations with quotes complete the image.
