Early Fire Truck | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
Automobile Combination Chemical Engine and Hose Wagon. When the manufacturer, the Peter Pirsch Company of Kenosha, donated this image to the Historical Society in 1913 they wrote on the back "this piece of apparatus was placed in service at Kenosha a little over two years ago and was the first piece of automobile fire apparatus to be placed in service in the state of Wisconsin." It was in addition one of only four motorized fire trucks in the nation. The truck was a joint effort with the Jeffery Motor Company for the city of Kenosha so that the city would vacate a street and allow Jeffery to expand his factory. For this model, Jeffery built the chassis and Pirsch the body and apparatus.
