Kathryn Mann on Farmall A Tractor
Mrs. Kathryn Mann of Columbia, Pennsylvania, sits on a Farmall A tractor while Walter Dupes, salesman for J.B. Hostetter & Sons of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, and R.C. Northamer, assistant manager at Boston, stand beside her. Mrs. Mann was likely taking part in International Harvester's wartime "Tractorette" program. The original caption reads: "Pretty Mrs. Kathryn Mann, Columbia, Pennsylvania, is typical of the many young farmer wives who are pitching in as tractor operators these war days and thus helping keep up food production. The crop was tobacco." |
