Seated are Matiss, 42, former Latvian army officer and now an electrician, and his wife Eleanor, 44, teacher and linguist. Standing, left to right, are their son, Uldis-Jekabs, 16; Dr. Alfred W. Swan, pastor of First Congregational Church, the sponsoring agency; Mrs. Moses Smith, member of the church's displaced persons committee, Kurt Brueckner, whose wife heads the committee and daughter Signe Kristine.
DESCRIPTION
