A monumental rock dedicated to Nathan Hale (1755-1776), schoolteacher, member of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary war and widely regarded as the first American spy.  He was discovered on his mission to observe British troop movements during the Battle of Long Island and executed after the battle.  The monument sits on the grassy shore of Huntington Bay which is visible in the background of the photograph.  Made for the Gildersleeve Shop.
DESCRIPTION
A monumental rock dedicated to Nathan Hale (1755-1776), schoolteacher, member of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary war and widely regarded as the first American spy.
