God Watches Over Them
An angel holding a Union flag is saying "GOD WATCHES OVER THEM." Under her gaze two children peacefully sleep under a Union flag. At the foot of the bed an African American doll falls awkwardly to the floor and is not included under the Union blanket. Below them is the phrase "AS IT WILL BE." Above the angel is a separate image depicting two men fighting, one with the Union flag and the other with a Confederate flag. Below them is the phrase "AS IT IS-." Multicolor on cream envelope, image on left side. Image printed on envelope, mounted on various colored pages and collected in an album. |
