Reunion of Confederate Veterans: "Human Confederate Flag"
Colored postcard view of crowd in front of the stand. Caption reads: "Human Confederate Flag." Text at top right reads: "And 'twill live in song and story. Though its folds are in the dust." One of the most pleasing as well as spectacular features of the great reunion of Confederate veterans, was the arrangement and costuming of 600 school children occupying a stand within the Lee Monument enclosure and aroused the greatest enthusiasm by their singing of "Dixie" and other Southern airs. The event was held in Richmond in May-June, 1907, relating to the unveiling of the Jeb Stuart and Jefferson Davis Monuments. |
