Photograph
Bettina Bjorksten
Portrait of Bettina Bjorksten, an opera singer and teacher in Madison and other cities. Her family migrated from Germany to Brazil when Naziism became 'unendurable.' There she met her husband, Johan Bjorksten, a Dane and they toured Europe, South America and cities in the United States as musicians before settling in Madison. She believed that "the important thing is being; not doing." |
