Passport to Happiness
Portrait of Fricis Brakmanis, age 41, and his bride-to-be Maija Smeils, 40, holding their wedding license. Both had spent time in Latvian forced-labor camps during World War II. Neither of them had heard from their former spouses since they were separated in war labor camps in 1944. They waited four years while their marital statuses were verified. |
