Texas Migrant Family | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
A family from Texas temporarily settles in Waushara County. Their white truck is parked in front of a grassy area and wooden house. The father is standing to the right, wearing a cap, white shirt and jeans, leaning on the back of the truck with one arm on the truck and the other on his hip. He is looking at his young daughter who has her back to the camera and is wearing pigtails and holding a stick. The rest of the family is in front or inside the truck. A shoeless boy stands on the edge of the back of the truck looking into the camera.<p>This photograph is a part of Wisconsin-native David Giffey's series "Struggle for Justice," images from the migrant farm worker struggle including an independent organizing effort in Wisconsin and the nationwide grape boycott movement started by Cesar Chavez of United Farm Workers during the 1960s and 1970s.
