On the cover is the text, "Dedicated to the Men and Women of America, That they may understand what the election may lead to and how much the welfare of their families depends upon the Success of the Republican Ticket."

Text on the left reads, "The effects of a Tariff exclusively for Revenue as laid down in the Democratic Platform and which Democratic Congressmen tried to enact last winter at Washington. Democratic Free-Trade Means low wages, children in rags and ignorance. If you are satisfied with this picture vote for Cleveland and Hendricks." Imprinted below is "And P. V. Deuster the Free Trader." Text on the right reads, "The effects of Protection to American Industries as guaranteed by the Republican Party and Platform. Republican Protection Means good wages, happy homes and education for your children. If you prefer this picture vote for Blaine and Logan." Imprinted below is "And Isaac W. Van Schaick." Isaac W. Van Schaick was elected to the House of Representatives (from Wisconsin) of the 49th Congress in 1884 beating P.V. Deuster, the incumbent.
