Plan Outagamie Palisade Village
This drawing, based on an 1897 survey, appeared in the 1899 Proceedings of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, accompanying Publius V. Lawson's article on the Fox village that he placed south of the mouth of Sill's Creek in the Town of Menasha, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The village withstood a three day siege by De Louvigny in 1716 and was abandoned in 1728 prior to being burned by De Lignery's expedition. Shown are the palisades, De Louvigny's 1716 breastwork, and the house and barn of Henry Race. |
