Originally known as Kelly's Switch. It was constructed by A.A. Kelly for the purpose of shipping logs to St. Croix in 1872... The saw mill was sold to the Woodville Lumber company, which was organized in December, 1879... The first post office was established in 1876. It was then known as "Kelley's Switch," but was subsequently changed to Woodville.
