About the FRIENDS of the Wisconsin Historical Society

The FRIENDS of the Wisconsin Historical Society was founded in 1950 as the Women's Auxiliary. It is an independent, nonprofit volunteer organization whose sole purpose is to assist and support the Society in its mission of preserving, understanding and sharing history.

Objectives of the FRIENDS

  • To increase public awareness and support of the Society.
  • To promote awareness of the history of Wisconsin.
  • To increase statewide membership in the FRIENDS of the Wisconsin Historical Society and in the Society through educational programs.
  • To provide support for special projects of the Society.
