Early Life

Max John Frederick Albrecht was a Lutheran clergyman and educator born in Gross-Polzin, Germany. He came with his parents to America in 1868 and settled in Chicago.

Religious Life

After studying classics at Concordia College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and theology at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, Albrecht served Lutheran congregations in Lebanon and Janesville, Wisconsin, and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Academic Life

In 1893 he became president of Concordia College in Milwaukee, which was a preparatory school for ministers of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The success of his administration was achieved through an energetic discipline. He resigned as president after 28 years, but continued as an instructor of classics until 1936.
