Frank Edmund Andrews was a newspaperman born in Edson Township in Chippewa County. He settled with his family in Minnesota, where he attended high school. In 1895 he moved to Bloomer and engaged in newspaper work. He and his father purchased the Bloomer Advance in 1896 and later he became sole owner. He continued the publication until his retirement in 1946.

Recognized as the "dean of upper Wisconsin newspapermen," Andrews was secretary of the Wisconsin Press Association from 1909-1912 and president from 1935 until 1936.
