The 10th Wisconsin Light Artillery was organized at New Lisbon and mustered into service on February 10, 1862, at Camp Utley in Racine. It moved to St. Louis, Missouri, on March 18-20, 1862. From there it traveled through Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas. It participated in the battles of Stones River, Resaca, Jonesboro, and Bentonville, the sieges of Corinth and Nashville, the Atlanta Campaign, and Sherman's March to the Sea. Soldiers who chose not to re-enlist were ordered to Madison April 13, 1865, and mustered out on April 26. Veterans and recruits were transferred to and attached to the 12th Wisconsin Light Artillery on April 20, 1865. It lost 28 men during service. Three enlisted men were killed. Twenty-five enlisted men died from disease.
