Wisconsin Historical Markers
Wisconsin historical markers identify, commemorate and honor the important people, places, and events that have contributed to the state's rich heritage. The Wisconsin Historical Markers Program is a vital education tool, informing people about the most significant aspects of Wisconsin's past.
The Society's Division of Historic Preservation and Public History administers the Wisconsin Historical Markers Program. Applications are required for all official State of Wisconsin historical markers and plaques.
Below you'll find information on how to apply for a marker, our current list of markers throughout the state, and pricing information for historical markers. In order to read the forms below, you will need Adobe Reader. If you do not already have this tool, you can find information in our help section.
Please allow sufficient time for your order.
Because there is often a backlog of pending applications and staff is limited, please allow up to 6 months for staff review and 4-6 weeks for production of your historical marker.
