Genealogy: Reading Old German Script

Do you have correspondence from a German ancestor written in a script that you cannot read? Or on an official document? This workshop will acquaint participants with the basics of the Old German written alphabet so that they can transcribe words into modern script. Bring your own documents. After providing a general introduction, the instructor will assist you with your specific questions.

Instructor: Karyl Rommelfanger, retired German teacher from the Manitowoc Public School System. She has transcribed and translated documents written in Old German script for more than 25 years.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Historical Society Division of Library-Archives and the Max Kade Institute for German American Studies.
