Wisconsin Troops Interviewed in Shinto Shrine
A shinto shrine near Tokyo serves as the starting point of a Wisconsin story as Robert J. Doyle (lower left), correspondent of the Journal, takes the names of a group of state soldiers. All members of the 5th Air Force headquarters, they are (left to right) Private First Class Joseph Borkenhagen, Private First Class Alvin Schultz and Private First Class Arthur Grudnowski, all of Milwaukee; Staff Sergeant Harry Kallish of Wisconsin Rapids; Sergeant Ervin Erlein of Milwaukee; Technical Sergeant Robert Sheldon of LaCrosse; and Sergeant Micheal Pokos of West Allis. The above information was taken from the caption that ran with the image in the Milwaukee Journal. The shrine was located near the 5th Air Force Headquarters near Tokyo, Japan. |
