This title, published in 1910, was the third volume in Victor Appleton's popular series about Tom, his friends, and their adventures with technology, especially transportation technology. The airship in the title refers to dirigibles, not airplanes. It was the first title from the Tom Swift series to deal with aviation. Tom developed a special love for aviation and airplanes, and subsequent volumes in the series concerned gliders, military aircraft, racing planes, and flying boats. |
