Steam-powered car designed to run on ice across the Mississippi River at Prairie du Chien. The LADY FRANKLIN made one successful trip across, but was then abandoned while the inventor-builder, Norman Wiard of new York, tried to raise money.

Abandoned Stone Schoolhouse
Schoolhouse at Lawerton(?), built 1859. There is a bell tower on the roof. Several of the windows are boarded up, and the door is either wide open or missing.
