In this scene still from the 1911 Selig silent film "Back to the Primitive," a group of four men dressed for safari (pith helmets, jungle jackets, puttees) aided by two natives (who appear to be played by American Indians) have killed a lion in order to rescue a man and a woman dressed as castaways in ragged clothes and animal skins. The young man in pith helmet and dark shirt is John Wilton, played by Tom Mix. His sister, Helen Wilton, played by Kathlyn Williams, wears a leopard skin and is embraced by Will Carson, played by Charles Clary, in ragged clothes. |
