This photograph was the basis for a colorized, gag postcard by the Hugh C. Leighton Company, Manufacturers, Portland, ME., U.S.A. The title is "Florida Tourists" and the number is 27012. Two women in white dresses were added to the scene. One woman is next to the alligator in the front seat, the other is standing behind the rear of the automobile. The dwellings that appear in the original photograph have been removed. The photograph was was copyrighted 1907. The postcard was mailed from Fort Pierce on March 11th, 1908. The destination, Chicago, Illinois. |
