Map of the 4 Lakes and Their Outlet into Rock River : To Accompany the Report of Thos. J. Cram Capt. T.E. on the Reconnoissance Thereof

This map shows the hydrology of Madison and its vicinity at the height of interest in a proposed Milwaukee and Rock River Canal. It was made by Thomas Jefferson Cram of the U.S. Topographical Engineers from personal surveys, and shows the course of the Yahara River from Lake Mendota to its junction with the Rock River. It also shows several "paper cities" that were proposed by developers but never built. |
