Nelson Cruikshank, emphasizes a point with his left hand as he talks to someone.Cruikshank worked for the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) several times over a long period of time. In 1955 he was named Director of the American Federation of Labor's Department of Social Security. His activities through this office contributed to the passage of the Social Security Disability Insurance amendments in 1956.
