Two cartoons (by Clifford K. Berryman?) for the winter dinner of the Gridiron Club, each entitled, "Gridiron Forecast 1948": one of Thomas Dewey holding a hat and handkerchief and standing over a slumped over elephant that wears a blanket marked, "Deflation G.O.P."; the other of Harry Truman holding a fireplace bellows and standing behind a patched blow-up donkey marked, "Inflation". Inscribed, "To Ray Henle with deep appreciation for all he did to help make this dinner a success- Phelps H. Adams." |
