Sauk County Conscripts
A group of more than 70 draftees poses on the steps of the Sauk County Courthouse on the day they left Baraboo for Camp Grant near Rockford, Illinois. Most of the men have a paper tag attached to their clothing. A single uniformed man stands near the rear on the far right. A white bulldog sits on the left in front of the group. Two men in front hold boldly patterned caps. There is a sign above the courthouse door which bears the emblem of the Red Cross. |
