079 - Counselors and Campers Playing Musical Instruments
Group of counselors and campers playing musical instruments indoors. Included are several string instruments, a saxophone, recorder, and a piano. Two campers are holding open a songbook. The group is arranged in a corner of an interior room, and a woven wall hanging hangs on a wall behind them. Original caption notes: "Every summer we have at least a dozen campers and counselors whose musical talents add much to the summers' enjoyment for all. As an orchestra, and in trios, duets and solos, those who play instruments find many opportunities to appear during the camp season, especially at our evening musicales and at Sunday Services. Campers who wish to practice on the piano or on a musical instrument may choose to do so, under supervision, if so desired. Music and singing are important and vital parts of our camp life." The caption goes on to note that a graduate student in music was in charge of the music program. |
