Postcard
Marquette State Park, The Sand Caves
| Postcard for Marquette Park in Grant County, number 4706 in a series by E.A. Bishop of Racine. The caption on the back of the postcard reads: "The picturesque rocky gorge beginning at the banks of the Wisconsin River and extending far into the interior of the Park is enchanting and compels our attention. Here in the forest, amid blossoms and ferns, nature has chiseled from the sand rock large semi-circular caves, displaying strata of sand of every hue, while over the crest of the gorge a silvery cascade places the finishing touch to a bit of wild woodland scenery which will be deeply impressed upon our memory." |
