Truax Field

Workmen overhauling the engine of a Wisconsin Central airplane in the airline hangar at Truax Field. Formerly known as Madison Municipal Airport, the field was taken over by the government during World War II and renamed Truax Field, in honor of a local hero. In 1948 after the military left, Wisconsin Central Airlines moved its headquarters from Clintonville to Madison. |
