From Jim Allen: "1959 Prototype Scout chassis test installation of A-55 engine. The Scout was conceived before an engine was available for it. International soon put an engine into development but they weren't ready when the first chassis were, so A-55 engines from the recently developed (1958) Metro-Mite compact van was used. This process shot shows an A-55 engine being tested fitted into a prototype chassis for later testing. The Warner T-90 3-speed transmission and Spicer Model 18 transfer case have been adapted. This is not a rolling chassis but its mounted on a jig for testing engine position, etc." |
